The New EP
Friday, April 6, 2012

Happy Spring, everybody!

I’ve been keeping busy here in Nashville and wanted to update you on one of the new projects I’ve been working on!

Since moving here in November, I’ve been incredibly lucky to write with a number of amazing songwriters.  Four months and forty (!!!) songs later, I’ve decided to pick a few of my favorites a record a 6-song EP!  While this project has a different feel from my latest album, Hot Loose Wire, I’m excited to share another side of my writing with you.

Being in the studio has been SO much fun.  My good friend and co-writer, Peter Groenwald, is producing the CD and has a great vision.

Below:  The best players around… Adam Popick on bass, Evan Hutchings on drums at Brown Owl Studios in Nashville, TN

Below:  The unbelievable Jonathan Trebing on guitar.  The next day he left for tour with Rascal Flatts.  He’s a big deal!

We had a little bit too much fun in the studio when someone brought in mustaches… but don’t worry, the music isn’t as hairy.

Oh, and that’s me.  Pre-mustache.  Laying down some acoustic guitar.

The release date has not been decided but I’ll be sure to keep you all posted.  Be sure to follow my NEW Twitter account (@lizlongley) and stop by my Facebook page for sneak peaks of the new songs AND a video.

It’s a dream come true to share my music with you and I can’t thank you enough for listening!

Love,

LL

P.S.  Many of you have been asking if I’m going to release some of your favorites of my new songs (“Camaro”, “Out of My Head”, “Peace of Mind”, “Bad Habit”) and the answer is YES!  When this 6-song EP is in your hands, I’m planning on recording my next full length studio CD.

February Update
Thursday, February 23, 2012

It’s been almost three months since I moved to Nashville, TN and I am loving it here.  This town is full of amazing musicians and I feel very lucky to be surrounded by them.  I’ve been spending my days writing with incredible songwriters, recording new songs, and playing shows in states I never had the chance to visit before.  Life is busy and there are lots of exciting things in the works that I am eager to share with you … : )

After living in Boston for five years, I feel so honored to have just been nominated by the New England Music Awards as the 2011 “Female Performer of the Year” and “Songwriter of the Year”.  If you feel so inclined, I would greatly appreciate your vote.  Just click here.  While I don’t miss the winter in New England (can you blame me!?), I sure do miss the wonderful people there and I can’t wait to tour through again this summer.

My partner in crime, Gus Berry and I plan on escaping the southern heat this summer by not only touring New England but also the West Coast AND Germany!   We cannot wait.  We’re still figuring out who will babysit the puppy we just impulsively adopted two days ago… but we’re very proud parents to Stella, our beautiful seven-week-old golden retriever.

We couldn’t resist …

She loves to keep us company while we record and we’re hoping she loves traveling too.

Sending you all big wet puppy kisses… (because we’ve been given EXTRA lately!)

See you on the road!

XO

Sirius XM – Live Session Airs in October!
Friday, September 30, 2011

As most of you know, Sirius XM Radio started regularly playing my cover of Van Morrison’s “Moondance” on The Coffee House Channel (31) this summer.  Soon after, they started frequently spinning “When You’ve Got Trouble,” an original song from my latest CD, “Hot Loose Wire.”   As an independent artist, I am so grateful for their support!!  It has been so amazing to receive emails from XM listeners who heard “When You’ve Got Trouble” for the first time.  Thank you all for your enthusiasm and support!!

Last week, I visited their NYC studios to record a live session.  Their studio is absolutely stunning and to think I was hanging out where artists like Paul McCartney, John Mayer, Paul Simon and Adele have recorded… it was a special day.  I had a great time recording there and played five songs, completely acoustic: “When You’ve Got Trouble”, “Unraveling”, “Moondance”  and a cover of The Beatles’ song, “I Will,” AND a newer original song (not yet available), “Camaro.”

The live session will air on October 20th at 12noon ET and will replay for the west coast at 12am (9pm PT). Channel 31 on Sirius XM Radio!  THANK YOU SIRIUS XM Coffee House and your listeners for support independent artists!!

9/11 Heroes Run
Saturday, September 10, 2011

To remember and honor the lives lost in 9/11, my uncle created The 9/11 Heroes Run.  In 2007, my family lost an incredible human being, my cousin, 1st Lt. Travis Manion.  In his memory, we run for Team Travis ever year in the Marine Corps Marathon.  Now, on the heels of the 10th Anniversary of 9/11, consider honoring the fallen in the world wide 9/11 Heroes Run.

Sirius XM Coffee House Channel!
Monday, July 18, 2011

Guess what?!  Sirius XM The Coffee House Channel is now playing “When You’ve Got Trouble” and “Moondance” from ‘Hot Loose Wire’!

Last week my dad called me from a restaurant saying he heard my version of Van Morrison’s “Moondance” coming through the speakers.  Quite a crazy moment for us, as he raised me on Van Morrison’s music.  We soon found out that it was Sirius XM Radio who was regularly spinning “Moondance”.

TODAY I turned on XM Sirius Radio’s Coffee House Channel to hear them playing my original song, “When You’ve Got Trouble”… right before a Beatles song!!   It was an incredibly cool feeling….  Thank you, Sirius XM Radio!!

America!
Sunday, May 29, 2011

Had a great weekend traveling from VA to ME.

In Virginia, I had the rare opportunity to open for the Grammy Award winning band, America, at the legendary venue, The Birchmere!   For their encore, they invited me up to sing along on their hit song “Horse With No Name”!  They were incredibly kind and generous and I loved sharing the stage with them! And WHAT A CROWD!   Woo!!

Last night, in Maine, I opened for one of my favorite singer songwriters, Antje Duvekot.  Her lyrics are so captivating and her voice is angelic.  The 8 hour drive from PA to ME yesterday was SO worth it… a huge thanks to my mom, who joined me for the trip and drove most of the way!  I’ve just been spoiled with amazing venues (and generous people!) this weekend!

June is jam packed with a two week tour of sunny California with the highly regarded singer/songwriter Steve Seskin and a voice you love and recognize (from the latest season of American Idol), Caleb Hawley!  After CA, I’m headed to Texas for a two week tour with the talented Robby Hecht!   June is looking lovely.  :)

On the road again… !!

All things NEW!
Wednesday, May 4, 2011

Welcome to the new LIZLONGLEY.COM and thank you so much for stopping by!  Feel free to take a look around and make yourself at home.

In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing a NEW music video with you.  The video was filmed at the stunning Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport, Massachusetts for “Unraveling”, a song from my 2010 CD titled ‘Hot Loose Wire’.  ”Unraveling” is a song I wrote about my grandmother who suffered from Alzheimer’s.  I carry the song very close to my heart and was blown away when it was chosen as the 1st Prize Winner of the BMI/John Lennon Scholarship Award.   I can’t wait to share the video with you.

If you check out the tour page, you’ll see many new shows have been added to the tour schedule.  I am thrilled to be playing so many house concerts this year!  I absolutely love getting to know you and your friends through a night of music.   Thank you for reaching out and making those special nights possible.

Stay tuned… LIZLONGLEY.COM will soon be selling the great new merchandise we have in the works.  Wait until you see!!

Thanks again for stopping by!  Hope to see you again soon!

xo,

Liz
